July, the month of the heatwave, the Love Island finale and Wimbledon. While the sun shone its rays, Greg & Amber celebrated their victory and Djokovic won the longest ever mens’ final, we report back on all the exciting things to take place here at Cogent.
This month saw us launch ‘Eatwave for Marston’s; a promotion to drive footfall and spend in food-centric pubs this summer. Together with the client, we created an integrated campaign to support their new menu launch that lived across a multitude of channels. You can try one of the yummy new burgers in pubs now!
We’ve also been busy creating lots of other assets to support the recent partnership between Marston’s and Heineken, Marston’s Inns and a new Warner’s gin menu… chin chin!
Towards the end of the month, we also welcomed around 40 of the Marston’s team to Heath Farm as they used our HQ as a base for their internal strategy meeting. To celebrate the launch of their Summer ‘Eatwave menu, we invited the clients to a delicious BBQ banquet from ‘The Smoke Truck’ as we sat in the sun and enjoyed lunch together.
While the UK was struck with 38 degrees heat, we headed to Birmingham to shoot some super exciting stop motion for a highly anticipated campaign coming later this year. The day consisted of several different sets, multiple outfit changes and copious amounts of hairspray. The campaign will be hitting cinemas later this year so keep your eyes peeled for more info… For now, here are some of the exclusive behind the scenes shots from the day.
Our client fuelGenie also attended the Public Sector Solutions expo this month where they proudly showed off their stand and supporting collateral arranged and designed by Cogent!
We’re also very excited to see the launch of npower Business Solutions’ new podcast. We were thrilled to support them with launch activity including the creation of podcast artwork, direct mail (including free branded headphones!), social media assets and an email campaign. You can check out more from The Future of Business Energy podcast here!
There’s more. After a lot of hard work, our multiple brochures for Omega went live this month as part of a major brand refresh. The refresh was strategically developed from months of research undertaken by Cogent which included focus groups, interviews, competitor audits and a segmentation piece. We create a new brand proposition, tone of voice, logos and brand guidelines which have all played a part in repositioning the Omega brands. You can explore Chippendale, Engish Rose, Mackintosh and Sheraton here.
We’re also very proud of our Strategist, Mary, as she returns from her week at Ogilvy Consulting UK. Mary was one of the lucky few selected by Ogilvy to take part in their Behavioural Science Summer School where she learnt from Rory Sutherland himself. A very insightful week which saw some of the best thinkers from across the country come together to share tips and knowledge.
Our PR team gained some killer coverage this month as they made national news for Lintbells. Articles discussing the hidden benefits dog owners find in their daily walks graced the pages of The Sun, The Independent, Daily Star and many more.
That’s not all. Our PR experts have also been working closely with client Open Study College to gain nationwide coverage. The content explores research we launched which shows how many people in the UK work in ‘dull and unrewarding jobs’… (now don’t we feel smug).
Work hard, play hard. That’s what they say, right? After securing lots of great coverage and pleasing our clients, our PR team headed off to Ghetto Golf in Birmingham to celebrate a successful month.
We also headed to Bristol Downs to battle it out against our research partner, Ragdoll, in a rather splendid game of boules. Needless to say, the Cogent team did not walk away victorious (but we can keep that one quiet).
July was also the month of the long-awaited Cogent Fiesta. We’d been counting down the days until we could samba the night away (Curtis Pritchard style) at our annual summer party. A fab night made up of delicious daiquiris, questionable dance moves (you know who you are) and dubious Hawaiian shirts.
Some of us also headed out with our client Network Q for a team social – we split into two groups and challenged ourselves to an escape room. Let’s just say, one of the teams needed a bit more help than the other… A good night was had by all, and a few new members of the team were well and truly ‘initiated’.
So, that’s a wrap for July! We’ll be back at the end of August for another rundown of all the happenings here at Heath Farm. Until then, have a good one!
