Cogent Beekeeping: June 2018.
June, you’ve been a sunny one (thank you!), but you didn’t just bring the warm weather, you also brought fun affairs and strong achievements. So listen up, while we reflect on another scorching month here at Cogent.
First up, we spent some time at Junction Eleven filming a few cheeky canines for client Lintbells’ Chewies campaign. The adorable ad went live in the Pets at Home VIP magazine this month!
We also announced the win of a new client, Omega PLC. A lovely quote from Omega’s Head of Marketing states: “We were looking for an agency who could give us a step change in our marketing efforts and Cogent demonstrated they were the right team to lead us on the journey”. With projects in full swing, we’re extremely excited to be working together with this wonderfully British brand.
Our Yorkshire Water ‘Course It’s Better’ campaign made its rounds on the internet. We were proud to see our client campaign appear on both Creativebrief’s ‘Hot Pick – Must see projects of the week‘ and The Drums ‘Creative Works’ this month. Praised for being a highly engaging campaign within the utility sector, you can see the case study here.
As summer solstice approached, we celebrated the sunshine with an all agency BBQ and eventful game of rounders. While I passively watched from the sidelines (with a belly full of cheeseburger) our Head of Growth managed to ‘accidentally’ fall and rugby tackle a member of our Creative Team in what was a rather hilarious series of events… only if we’d caught it on camera… instead here’s a photo of him working the BBQ with Client Director, Dave.
A few members of the Relationships Hive joined our client, Perrys, for the grand opening of their Chesterfield Ford Store. The evening saw local residents and customers visit the new site for the reveal of the plaque. Delicious food and drink, live music, a variety of games and a display of vintage Fords made for a fun-filled evening!
We’ve also had staff meet a few milestones, with Account Director, Hayley Field, hitting her eleven-year Cogent anniversary. Artworker, Ben Walton, hit seven years and Blakes Timms, SEO, celebrated his very first Cogent anniversary.
We also mustn’t forget to mention how the entire country came together for TV’s most awaited games. With high hopes, we sat eagerly through the grand opening ceremony, eyes fixated on the screen. With anticipation in our hearts, we welcomed a team of over-tanned, overpaid individuals onto our screens in a bid to win 2018’s most talked about competition. Yep, you’ve got it, June saw the start of Love Island season 4 (#TeamJani)! Although, while some of us were more concerned with recoupling and ‘grafting’, apparently this thing called the World Cup kicked off too? From what I hear, England lost one match and won two while Harry Kane scored a few goals and dedicated the team’s success to ‘Togetherness on the pitch’ (but we knew that already… because Togetherness always scores).
Anyway, speaking of Love Island, we’ve been busy planning and creating a new TV ad which is set to make its debut appearance in the commercial break of the Love Island final! It’s been all systems go as we’ve cast actors to star in the highly anticipated campaign. Dropping at 9pm on July 30th, we can well and truly say ‘watch this space’.
And on the topic of the world cup, we’ve been on a digital mission with our client, Marston’s, to drive consumers into their pubs to watch matches and promote their very own ‘Match Predictor’ app. We tackled this (pun intended) with a mixture of email, social media, website support, landing page development and in-pub digital screen animations. Lots of fun!
In other news, Tom from the Cogent film team tried an orange for the first time – yep, you heard us correctly, FOR THE FIRST TIME. Meanwhile, our receptionist Amber rehomed an adorable little French Bulldog called Minnie *cue mandatory doting*.
Anyway, that’s it for June. Until next time, enjoy the sun (and Love Island), catch up again with us next month for more on the Cogent low down.
