TeaTalk with: Sandeep Singh-Bhachu, Animator and Designer.

We sit down with Sandeep Singh-Bhachu, Animator and Designer here at Cogent for a cuppa and a chat. We explore working at Cogent, his career highlight so far and what togetherness means to him.

What inspired you to get involved in animation and design in particular? Was this something you always wanted to do?

I think it was growing up playing computer games and watching movies in the 90s that inspired me to be part of the design industry as a motion graphic/animation artist.

I studied Game Art Design at university with dreams of becoming a 3D artist in the games industry. I then started my career in the architectural industry creating 3D photorealistic visuals for a company based in central London. I spent a year doing this and felt I needed to do something more challenging which is when I started to learn more about 2D/3D Motion graphics and Adobe After Effects.

At this point, I knew what my perfect role would be. I went on to work for companies in gaming, retail, transport and AR/VR as a motion graphic artist.

What is it that makes Cogent different to other places you have worked?

This is the first time I’ve worked at a creative agency and I really like the buzz around this place. I enjoy the fact that every day is different and you get to work with different people on a variety of projects. The creative team here at Cogent are amazing, there is a range of talents and everyone brings something new to a project.

What’s your career highlight to date, something you’re proud of?

A career highlight at Cogent was working on a campaign for our client Pay’m, where I worked on the animations for out of home and social media. The animations were shown in and around Birmingham city centre and they looked amazing. It was a great feeling to see this work go live as there was a lot of hard work involved from the whole team here at Cogent.

Do you have a motto or ethos that helps you in your everyday work in the Creative Hive? What keeps you going and ensures the work you do stands out?

“Hard work pays off” –  a motto which I feel you can apply to anything you want to accomplish.

I have a passion for motion graphics and love experimenting and creating animations. I’m always researching new techniques and new trends, also anything that helps speed up my workflow including plugins and software.

What does Togetherness mean to you?

Togetherness to me is working together, developing individual strengths, allowing ideas and people to flourish while building good relationships to achieve a shared goal.

What part of your job do you enjoy the most and why?

When you know you’ve created something that looks amazing and seeing everyone’s reaction when they see the finished piece of work.

That’s all from Sandeep. Keep an eye out for next month’s TeaTalk where we’ll be sitting down with another member of the Cogent family.
