Cogent Beekeeping: May 2018.

Time flies when you're having fun

It’s time for another monthly Cogent Beekeeping (time really does fly when you’re having fun!). It’s been a busy month here at the agency, but of course, amongst our bustle, there’s always a buzz…

Following a joyfully sunny bank holiday, we kicked off May with a trip to London for the Grand Designs Live exhibition. We spent the day researching and trend spotting in the presence of Grand Design’s very own, Kevin McCloud. We expanded our knowledge of an eco-friendly lifestyle within the home and got to grips with how this trend is affecting the way brands sell and consumers buy.

(Fun takeaway: Did you know semi-skimmed milk is ruining our recycling system? Those little green bottle caps are contaminating mass plastic reproduction by turning everything green!)

Alex and Lucy made their way to Birmingham City University to host a talk to first-year Contemporary Advertising students. They spilt the beans on agency life, Cogent and life after graduating. A very enjoyable day!

Lights, camera, action! This month also saw members of our Relationships Hive hang out with some television stars. Nichola and Gemma met up with Mat Horne, (AKA Gavin from Gavin and Stacey), to record a fun voiceover for a forthcoming campaign.

We were back in the studio shooting with the Cogent film crew too. I hear they had lots of fun, even if they did have to resist tucking into the pizza…

After a competitive pitch, May also brought the news that we had won a new client! It’s all systems go now as we gear up for a TV campaign airing this summer!

In other news, we’ve successfully managed to make full use of office perks. We’ve had mobile manicures, Matt’s military boot camp and a delightful yoga session in the sun for #WorldMeditationDay.

One of our in-house Producers, Rae, has also been hosting nutrition sessions over lunchtimes. We’ve been getting the low down on all things superfoods, mood foods and the importance of hydration.

This month, we also attended the Indie Summit in London, a global leadership conference for independent agencies. We gained lots of fascinating insight as talks ranged from the home of the future, all the way through to the people’s revolution in Bulgaria.

May marked work-iversaries for a few of us too. Rowena, our Head of PR & Social Media, hit her four year anniversary, whilst Suzi, our Social Media Account Manager celebrated 2 years. Lorraine also celebrated her first Cogent anniversary, whilst Kevin, our Head of Studio, celebrated a whopping milestone of 32 years. Now that deserves a high five!

On top of all this, we witnessed the true force of Togetherness as we saw the entire country come together, pour a glass of Pimms and revel in British pride as we enjoyed another royal wedding.

So, that’s all from us this month. We’ll be back with Cogent Beekeeping in June with reports on our highly anticipated summer BBQ and much, much more.
