Marketing Masterclass Lecture: Consumer Insights and Trends

The fourth and final lecture in this year's Marketing Masterclass series will be taking place on Thursday 2nd December 2010.

As always, this lecture is being held at Birmingham Business School’s first class facilities and is completely free of charge.

Presenter: Richard Cope, Director of Foresight at Mintel.

While consumers are still reeling from the aftershock created by the global economic crisis, lessons have been learnt, behaviours changed and consumer adaptability has created a new way of life. With that in mind, Mintel has predicted nine key consumer trends for the year ahead, examining how long term behaviour has been affected. In 2011, consumers are living for the long term with attitudes inspired by a changed value set.

1. Prepare for the Worst
2. Retail Rebirth
3. Where It’s App
4. No Degree, No Problem
5. On Her Own Terms
6. Retired for Hire
7. The Big Issue
8. Garden State
9. Who Needs Humans?

In this lecture Richard will discuss some of the effects that the global economic crisis has had on consumer behaviour and its long reaching implications. Indeed, these consumer trends for 2011 are a legacy created by economics, but they are now gathering their own momentum and are set to influence the global consumer mindset for a long time to come.
