Cogent Creative Team in Cannes for Young Lions Competition
28th June 2011
Our creative team, Casey Hennessy and Jenny Barton, joined the best of the world's creatives in the South of France for the week long Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
"Over seven days and 57 sessions, thought-leaders and experts in all forms of communications and creative thinking come together to inspire, debate and entertain."
Our team were there to take part in the Young Lions competition after winning the UK heat for their press work based on a brief from Unicef.
As well as competing and answering a new brief for Pump Aid to increase awareness and encourage donations, the pair also attended several inspiring events and seminars.
In Casey's own words:
"I'm so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be at the creative centre of the universe for that one moment in time. Sir Ken Robinson made me fall in love with advertising again. Sarah Kay helped me remember what it was like to truly feel emotion. Patti Smith had me hanging on her every word and Sir John Hegarty brought it home how we should firmly be striving to be different."
Although they didn't win their competition, the prestige of even being at Cannes means we are so incredibly proud of the pair for earning their place. Well done again girls!
We don't doubt that the trip will have a massive positive impact their creativity, but after shooting this remake of the old classic Old Spice ad we're hoping we don't lose Jenny to a life of acting and general fabulousness. See her efforts on YouTube .
