Cogent Elliott shortlisted for Integrated Communications in 2012 Midlands CIPR PRide Awards

CIPR PRide Awards Shortlist 2012

30th July 2012

Cogent Elliott has been shortlisted for the Integrated Communications category in the 2012 Midlands CIPR PRide Awards, chosen for its outstanding work in supporting rail company London Midland with the launch of its enhanced service between Birmingham New St and London Euston.

Cogent Elliott was appointed by London Midland in September last year to integrate and deliver a PR strategy to support its ‘Every 20 minutes, less than £20’ advertising campaign, promoting its improved service between Birmingham and the capital.

CIPR CEO, Jane Wilson MCIPR, commented: “The CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and communications campaigns and teams from the profession across the UK. To be shortlisted for a CIPR PRide Award demonstrates exemplary achievement, impact and value – immediately putting your work in the spotlight. The sheer number of high quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving nationwide industry. Congratulations for reaching this stage and the best of luck for the awards presentation evenings.”

Louise Bucknall, Head of PR at Cogent Elliott said: “Gaining this endorsement for our relatively new PR offer is an exciting time for Cogent. London Midland was one of Cogent PR’s founding clients which helped us launch onto the Midland PR scene last year. It is great that our efforts have been recognised by being shortlisted for this prestigious award. “

She continued: “Cogent has a terrific heritage and with its investment in PR we’re in a strong position to offer clients an enhanced and timely full service which is backed up with a creative and strategic understanding of our clients business.”

David Whitley, Head of Marketing for London Midland, said: “Our ‘Every 20 minutes, less than £20’ campaign has accomplished industry recognition with an award-winning campaign, so it would be a tremendous achievement to be recognised alongside Cogent Elliott in the PR arena too.”

The judging process for the PRide Awards is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners. The 2012 Chairs of Judges, Gill Dandy FCIPR, Senior Consultant at The Centre for Strategy and Communication, and Chris Genasi FCIPR, Senior Consultant at APCO Worldwide, assisted in ensuring a fair and consistent judging process.

Over 1,000 entries were received from freelancers, consultancies and in-house teams across twelve UK regions and nations.

Gill Dandy, Senior Consultant for The Centre for Strategy and Communication commented: “I would like to congratulate all of the individuals and teams that have been shortlisted across the twelve regions and nations in the UK. The standard of entries continues to improve year on year which demonstrates an increasingly vibrant public relations profession.”

The winners of the 2012 Midlands CIPR PRide Awards will be announced at a black-tie dinner on Friday 2nd November 2012 at Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
